23 Days of Creative Valentines Day Ideas, Day # 1

I thought it would be fun to post an idea a day from now until Valentine's Day on February 14th.
Each day I'll include an idea for a Guy to give to his favorite Girl
And also an idea for a Girl to present to her favorite Man.

All of the suggestions listed will be budget friendly.
I'll leave the ideas such as
a Porsche wrapped in a big red bow to those with an audience whose pockets run much deeper.

As always; I welcome your Comments and Suggestions!

When I was married; I never went in for receiving gifts on days designated by unseen entities such as Valentine's Day, Mother's Day, Father's Day...and the like.

Mother's Day is now so out of hand that there's a card on the shelf wishing anyone and everyone a Happy Mother's Day.
"Happy Mother's Day to my favorite Uncle"
"Happy Mother's Day to a my precious son"
etc, etc...

Valentine's Day has met with the same fate.
We all remember Elementary School...where we "had" to give a Valentine's Day card to each class mate?

As we grew older, we gave Valentine's Day cards to our Grandmothers and Cousins, etc, etc.

For me...to celebrate Valentine's Day at all means to concentrate all effort into the one person (or persons) who is/are the object/s of our affection.
It should be a time of playfulness and of stepping outside of the boundaries of how you might normally express yourself.
If you do that; I predict success.

Day #1

GUYS...ready for this one?

Gird your loins!
Today's idea is for you to make her a simple piece of jewelry.
This will only work if you aren't attached to one of those high maintenance chicks who only want brand name junk.

If you're fortunate enough to "heart" someone who appreciates the simple things in life...then this should be right up her alley.

Stereotypically...dudes are good with their hands and with handling tools.
(that's what she said)
Well, how good are you at manipulating tiny tools?
,-}

I want you to go somewhere like A.C. Moore or Michael's or even Walmart (one which has a craft section)

I want you to think about what type of jewelry your Valentine likes.
But use your own imagination and tailor this piece to her personality.
Is your chick a pig farmer?  Then why not look in the Industrial Chic section?
Look for something cool and unusual that can't be found anywhere else.
Now browse around the jewelry-making section.
You'll notice right off that there are some beautiful pendants for piecing together a beautiful necklace.
(especially at the craft stores)

Maybe a big, funky ring is her thing?
No probs...they've got all you need for that as well.

Maybe an understated bracelet with something dainty dangling from it?

I'm talking unvelievably simple here guys.
The craft stores sell kits which come with everything you need.
Once you zero in on the piece you'd like to make, then you'll have to get some "findings".

I've included a few links here to sites where you can get a basic overview of what you'll need and if you hit any roadblocks...you can email me and I'll see if I can't help you or you can ask one of the nice folks who work in the stores...and I'm more than certain that they will help you out.

{side note}:  on these sites where free patterns are provided...you do not have to buy the pieces online.  Most websites are going to want you to buy from them...as that's how they make money.  duh!
If you find a pattern you like, then copy or print out the instructions and get the pieces at your local craft store instead:

Pick something easy.  It's the thought that counts.

1.  Prima Bead

2. Fire Mountain Gems & Beads

I think these two sites will get you going.

While at the craft store; you can pick up a jewelry box to fit your finished project.  I think you can buy them 2/$1.00.
Wrap...and Voila!

I cannot imagine a woman not going gaga over a man taking the time to construct something simple and lovely for her to wear as a constant reminder of his affection.
You'll be the talk of the town and yes, your buddies might give you a hard time, but they're not the ones you're wanting to get "intimate" with, are they?
They aren't, are they?
;D

Just sayin'

But here's an alternative option:

I know the lady who owns Beach Beads on Business 17 in Surfside Beach
If you go in there, Heather and her husband will help you pick out something nice and they have jewelry making classes.
I'm sure if you tell them you want to make something for Valentine's Day for your sweetheart...they will take care of you.  I'm positive they will.
I'm going to tell her to maybe expect you!

LADIES:  You're Next:

Can we "tawk" here ?  Woman to Woman?

We know what guys like, right?
This Valentines Day...Let's give it to them!
Seriously!

Take a provocative picture of yourself.
Go to the Walmart website (or others)
Upload your photos
Pick the size you'd like for a print.
You can order it from home and pick it up at the store.
Pick a nice frame and there you go.
Or, you can take several pictures and put together his own personal pin up calendar.
Go to the Website...the Pin-Up Files for Inspiration.
Look to Vargas, Elvgren.
Maybe channel a little Betty Grable from the 40s.
Keep it classy...not skanky.

Why not add some props?  Especially if you're going the Calendar route.
Is he a Pittsburgh Steelers fan (like me?) then why not clad (or unclad) yourself in nothing but two Terrible Towels?

Does he ride a Harley?
Sneak his Helmet and include it in your shots.
Do everything you can to keep it from being boring.

Is he a white collar worker?
How about a white, button down shirt, tie around your neck and high heels?
Make the print into a wallet size which he can carry around with him.
Put a secret message on the back.

The cool thing with ordering prints is that you can actually order a Poster size print of yourself and put it into a simple black frame...suitable for hanging.

Think outside of your comfort zone on this one.  That's the only way this will work.  I know you might feel goofy doing it, but trust me...if you think steamy, sensual...you'll be fine.  Just don't overdo it.  Keep it Subtle.
Let your inner sex kitten out and really take him by surprise.
Own the character and the effect it has will translate into your life well past Valentine's Day.

Good Luck!

I'm here if ya need any help.
