In Town for the GOP Presidential Debate in Myrtle Beach?

If you've arrived in Myrtle Beach as part of an entourage who've been traipsing around after the political movers and shakers then you have no doubt started to feel a little stale.
If that be the case (and even if it isn't)then here are a few places where you might enjoy escaping to while also enjoying the scenery and laid back southern charm this area is known for.

Though some of these suggestions are easily found on almost any website or Blog for Myrtle Beach...they are still worth checking out.

a.  The Murrells Inlet Marshwalk

Whether or not the weather is accommodating during the weekend of activities; I think you'll find the restaurants along the Marsh very accommodating in that there's something for everyone.
Check out the Marshwalk website for a virtual tour to get an idea of the lay of the land, which restaurants are represented, menu offerings and the like.
A few of the establishments have live local bands and with a few adult beverages thrown back...they all sound great after a while.
Just kidding.  I've always enjoyed whichever band happens to be jamming.  You might even get up and make a fool of yourself on the dance floor.  And then your friends will take pictures and upload them to their Facebook account and a whole network of social media acquaintances will know of your indiscretions... but hey...at least you'll have stories to tell the grandchildren in the years to come.

Side note:  if you visit the Dead Dog Saloon...and you have to visit the restroom...
...if you're a female, enter through the door marked "Setter".
...if you're a male, enter through the door marked "Pointer".

This information might prove to be useful.

b.  SHAG: Try Your Hand @ the Dance Which Originated in Myrtle Beach

The one thing you'll notice almost right away here in Myrtle Beach is how physically fit many of the older folks are compared to their peers in other parts of the country.
One reason is the year-round temperate climate which allows everyone, including Seniors,  to get outside and walk (usually with 2 or 3 dogs leading the way) ride bikes, swim, play golf and Mahjong (just threw that in to see if you're paying attention).  Though  Mahjong is played quite a bit down here; it has nothing at all to do with keeping fit physically.

Another activity which is more or less exclusive to Myrtle Beach and enjoyed by a large number of the 50+ crowd...is Shag Dancing.  The dance has its roots in the Jitterbug and the Lindy Hop Swing.  Those who are familiar with West Coast Swing will find a home in Shag dancing.
The thing that I personally love about Shag is how that it's danced mostly from the waist down and the man, not the woman, is the focal point.

If you're going to have some time while in town or if you're hosting some out-of-town guests this weekend, then a fun evening would be to hit North Myrtle Beach and places like Fat Harold's, Ducks and the Ocean Drive Pavilion.
Check out the websites for a Calendar of Events as there are usually live bands.

We're very casual here at the Beach...so slip into something comfortable and even if you don't venture out onto the dance floor yourself, I think no matter what age you are, you'll find hanging out with Shaggers a blast.
It's a dance and a way of life for youngsters and oldsters alike here along the Grand Strand.

I found this corny video on YouTube which puts Shag in some sort of context:

O.K., so I can't convince you to Shag?  No worries...you can dance the night away at the:
2001 Entertainment Complex  of Dance Clubs.

And, if you've been to any of the events at Broadway at the Beach, then you've already noticed the dance clubs, the Martini Bar and several other after hours places to hang out.

c. Want to keep fit while in town?

If your hotel or condo does not provide you with any sort of fitness amenity(and even if they do) then check out SkyFitness 24/7 with it's central location on Hwy. 17 Bypass just South of the Airport.

Owners Will and Danielle are not just gym owners, but they are involved in the Body Building industry themselves.
Call them up and they will let you know how to go about getting a Day or a Weekly Pass.
All you have to do is go in during their business hours and they'll hook you up.
They've got great modern equipment including the Helix Lateral Trainer.  That's my favorite!
The gym is kept clean and the equipment is always in great working order.

d. Drop by any of the area Adult stores and make your own after hours fun.

Hey guys...grab your wife, girlfriend or mistress (directed at the politicians in town)
and Hey girls...grab your husband or boyfriend or sugar daddy ...
and all y'all head on over to:
Priscilla McCall's,
Badd Kitty
(2 locations in local area)
or
Adam and Eve.
(across the street from Walmart on Seaboard St.)

The word is out...
it's totally o.k. to visit an adult store as they are just not what they used to be.
This is not your grandmother's adult store...mostly because she would never step into one.
This is also not your mom's adult store from back in her day, but you know what?  She very likely visits them now.
That's how o.k. it is!

There is a boon now in the "relationship enhancing product" industry.
Pure Romance and Passion Parties are all the rage now among women who host Girls Night Out events.

"Passion" as sex is called in mixed company... has been found to actually be fun and no longer "just a duty" to be fulfilled when the wife or girlfriend isn't pregnant or with child or having PMS or experiencing Menopause and Hot Flashes and the dude isn't busy with football or hanging with his "Brose".

I've written about these local companies before and I think you'll not only be pleasantly surprised at how much fun you'll have on your visit, but when you drop in to Priscilla's...especially...they are customer service extreme-ists in there.  They love what they do and educate as well as make you feel at ease and comfortable.

Now, there is a place on Seaboard Street where some of the strip clubs are called A Touch of Romance.  Please don't make the mistake of going in there.  It's creepy-ville.
And, I won't lie to you...there is a whole industry here in Myrtle Beach of strippers and exotic dancers.
They shop at these stores, but I can assure you that if you go in for a visit; you will find just normal everyday folk buying things to add to their toy box and they aren't ashamed and you shouldn't be either.
But if you're like me, then your first time in that type of establishment is awkward...to say the least.
It's why I suggest going into Priscilla's on your maiden voyage.

Maybe you've been on the road for a while and want to bring back something special for your significant other...
I'm telling you that you will find some cool and exciting "relationship enhancers" at any of these locations.

You can thank me later!!!

Be back with a few more suggestions later this afternoon.
I have to sleep too ya know!
